How do I care for my boots?Updated 4 hours ago
Boots fail from neglect more than from miles. Rinse them, dry them right, and condition leather before it dries out.
Rubber boots (Scout, knee boots)
- Rinse mud off with fresh water after wet hunts. Mud holds moisture against the rubber.
- Air dry away from direct heat and sunlight. UV and heat crack rubber over time.
- Store upright in a cool, dry place. Avoid folding tall boots over.
Leather boots (Grove, Fieldstone)
- Brush off dirt, wipe down with a damp cloth, and let them dry at room temperature. Never on a heater.
- Condition the leather when it starts looking dry or after heavy soakings. Skip silicone-heavy products on waterproof leathers.
- Use a boot tree or stuff with paper to hold shape in storage.
